The S60 application “Light Sabre” has nothing on Android’s “The Schwartz Unsheathed”.

The Schwartz Unsheathed has multiple colored sabers which appear from a Jedi-like light-saber. The applications makes use of the G1’s accelerometer to enable the light-saber sounds. The canine may be man’s best friend but aTrackDog is Android’s best friend. aTrackDog makes it easy to check for software updates on all your applications. aTrackDog scans the device and cross references each application against the latest version available in Android Market. Each application is then displayed with either a smile, meaning it’s current, or an exclamation point, indicating an update is available. Select the application in question and aTrackDog takes you to the application in Android Market. Repeat the process for each application as needed to stay up-to-date at all times. Update checks may be disabled on a per application basis if so desired. Whether applications are checked for updates or not, updates are never obligatory.

I’ve been running the application about once a week, without fail it has found at least one application needing updating. aTrackDog is such a simple to use and useful application adding it to my must have applications list for any Android user is a no-brainer. One improvement for aTrackDog I hope to see is scheduled update checks to avoid the manually periodic checks for updates nevertheless; aTrackDog is my G1’s best friend.

SlingMedia will be demonstrating the much anticipated SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone at Macworld and Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

In addition to SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone, Sling Media will be demonstrating streaming in HD for MAC using Sling’s online SlingPlayer at Sling.com using Firefox or Safari.

Pricing has yet to be announced for SlingPlayer Mobile for iPhone which will be submitted for testing and approval in Q1.

I remember in high school the career counselling and education they would give us, one thing in particular stuck with me: Something like 90% of the jobs you will have don’t even exist today. Back then the Internet wasn’t used outside of Universities and the Government. Today we are seeing many companies embracing some of these new media outlet such as Facebook and Twitter. Southwest Airlines is an example of just such a company using Twitter to connect with its customers in a new way.

For many reasons, most of them due to some changes in our lives Parents of Tech and TechTi.me have been combined. We’ll still blog about technology and some of that tech will be for parents and kids but not all of it.

My hope is that consolidation will make posts more regular but you can be certain they will be the same great content we’ve posted thus far.

Sling Media officially announces their plans for the public beta of the SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerry. SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerry is expected for release on December 30, 2008.

Thanks to a couple creative guys, Matt H and Mark G, Google Talk now has the ability to send SMS directly from the Gmail GTalk client. To enable to feature access the Labs tab within Gmail (Google Apps is supported) and enable ‘Text Messaging (SMS) in Chat ".

Phone number will be pulled from contacts if entered. If no number is entered you will be prompted to enter one. Sending SMS from Google Talk is currently only available within the US with more countries expected, although no dates have been given.

1. Enter your contact’s name in the ‘Search or invite friends’ box in
2. Chat, and select Send SMS. Or, if you already have a Chat window open for this contact, just click Options, and select Send SMS.
3. Enter a phone number in the ‘Send SMS messages to this number’ field. Please note that this feature only works on US numbers for now.
4. Click Save.
5. A Chat window should appear. Type your message and hit Enter.

Verizon exclusivity on Mobile TiVo is over. Now everyone can enjoy the benefits of web scheduling from their mobile. I’ve been waiting for this feature to be available for quite sometime. Now remote scheduling is truly available from anywhere anytime. Thanks TiVo!
